Our history

1997
creation

Legisana was founded in 1997 by pharmacist Gilles Gernaey. Long-time head of a food supplements production laboratory, he brings his skills as a formulator, his knowledge of ingredients and the Belgian and European legislation governing this sector to the company.

2005
certification

In 2005, Gilles and his team obtained Europe's first ISO 22000 certification in the food sector.

2005 - 2009
federation presidency

From 2005 to 2009, Gilles chaired the Belgian federation of food supplements (Be-Sup, formerly Naredi) and represented Belgium at European level (EHPM).

expansion

Since then, Legisana has grown and surrounded itself with specialized collaborators. First Catherine, with her expertise in food supplements and complementary pet foods, then Morgane, with her skills in cosmetics and medical devices, and finally Anne, a pharmacist, to help Gilles as an expert in food supplements.
